Journal History

ANNALS OF THE POLISH MATHEMATICAL SOCIETY were brought into being by joining two journals founded by Samuel Dickstein (mathematician, since 1915 professor of Warsaw University, member of Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, educator and editor): Prace Matematyczno-Fizyczne, 48 volumes of which were published in 1888-1951, and Wiadomosci Matematyczne, 44 volumes of which were published in 1897-1939. Originally the Annals of the Polish Mathematical Society were published in two series. Series I changed its Polish name Prace Matematyczne into the Latin name Commentationes Mathematicae in 1969. Editors of the journal were among others so outstanding mathematicians as Professors Władysław Orlicz and Julian Musielak. Now members of the Edotorial Board are eminent mathematicians representing all leading mathematical centers in Poland as well as eminent Polish mathematiciansworking abroad (in USA, FRance, Italy, Sweden and Canada).
